• What the guests said

You say it’s Scheffau but we all agree – your organisation and local knowledge made it all come so alive. We felt as if we’d known the area all our lives and all your careful preparation made our family reunion holiday flow so easily. Here’s to next year!

Additional Activities – Winter

Snow Tubing – approximately 5 minutes from Scheffau.  Snow tubing is available either during the day or in the early evening.  Whizz down the prepared runs in your snow tube, negotiating the turns and the bumps.

Tobogganing – Scheffau/Soll/Ellmau.  We recommend the gentler Scheffau run for beginners/children and if you’ve done this before why not try out the new moonlit run at Soll to test your skills.  Toboggans can be hired either by the hour, by the day or by the week.

Snow Shoe Walking – Scheffau.  Hire a pair of snowshoes and ask us about the best routes to take, depending on your experience.  Snowshoe walking is part of our Winter Wonderland package.

Horse drawn sleigh ride – approximately 5 minutes from Scheffau.   Rides lasting from one to two and half hours in your own horse drawn sleigh.  Book a daytime ride to sit back and relax and enjoy the winter landscape or have a ride during the evening to see things in a different light.

Air Rifle Shooting – join Scheffau’s Schutzenverein, or gun club, for an evening’s air rifle shooting at Scheffau’s very own indoor shooting range.  (Age limit – 12 and over).

Winter Village evening – Scheffau.  The village band plays whilst the fire burns to keep you warm under the winter sky.  Food and drinks are on hand to further enhance your winter evening outdoors.

Cross-Country Skiing – Scheffau has various cross-country routes as well as it’s own floodlit circuit for langlauf as we call it in Austria.  Ski/boots/pole hire locally.  Lessons available on request to get you started.  An ideal way to enjoy the winter wonderland and to strengthen those back and leg muscles.

Salzburg in the snow – approximately 75 minutes from Scheffau.  Come before 24th December for the Christmas markets and afterwards just to see Mozart’s home town in winter.

Swarowski Kristallwelt.  Approximately 60 minutes from Scheffau this dazzling display of crystals is an ideal outing for those not partaking in the skiing.

Sauna/Steam rooms/beauty treatments.  Available throughout the region and every swimming pool has them attached.  See our list of pools on additional summer activities.

Trial ski lesson – Scheffau.  If you’d just like to see what it’s like ask us about a private lesson down in the village, away from the main crowd.

Candlelit Walk – Scheffau.  Each Monday evening go for a guided walk through the woods carrying a candle to light your way and at the end enjoy a glass of warming Gluhwein.

Ice skating – approximately 10 minutes from Scheffau on an outdoor winter rink.

Winter walking – Scheffau and area.  Winter footpaths lead you the area to get you out into the fresh air.  Another way to enjoy the winter scenery.

Fondue Evening – Scheffau.  Just let us know which evening you’d like to go and we’ll book your table for you.  If you go on Wednesday you’ll also be treated to an evening of folk music played on harp and accordion.

Après ski – Scheffau.  Direct at the Valley Station.  Try the Red Bull tent for après ski specialities – flugerl, Jaegermeister, Schnapps, Gluhwein, hot chocolate with rum – or just have a beer or a glass of wine.
